AcuityCFO Participates in GRA/TAG Business Launch
COMPETITION HELPS LAUNCH GEORGIA'S MOST PROMISING NEW TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES
ATLANTA, GA, June 2, 2010 AcuityCFO joined forces today with the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) and the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) to support the creation and growth of new companies that will strengthen and expand Georgia's strategic high-tech community. The event is designed to help a local start-up technology-based company launch its business. The contest finalists received over $400,000 in cash and free professional services, including services from AcuityCFO.
The competition, now in its fifth year, facilitates connections between the younger entrepreneurial community and more seasoned entrepreneurs and investors. Initial applications are screened by experts at the Atlanta Technology Development Authority (ATDC) and the most promising applicants are assigned a mentor for the duration of the competition. AcuityCFO also participated in the semi-finalist judge's panel in determining the four finalists. Participants in the finals are connected to the investor community, with out of state venture capital companies being represented among the judge's panel and a multitude of angel and venture capital investors in attendance at the event.

Toomah, an Atlanta-based company that automated the interviewing process, won the competition and received $50,000 in cash along with $200,000 in services. The other finalists – Khu.sh, a music intelligence application company; SolidFire, a cloud computing company; and Transaction Tree, a "green" company, will all split the remaining $200,000 in pro bono services, a first for the competition which had always just rewarded the winner.
